I
shoot through my life's' experiences and the visual culture
which has come through these experiences. I realize that for
me to be a better photographer, I must first be a better human
being. A person which is in touch with the subtleties of life.
A person who is open enough to explore life's boundaries, but
wise enough to sit in silence and analyze its beauty. Sometimes
we become so busy we tend to overlook the beauty in front of
us. We no longer stop to smell the flowers, let alone play with
them.
Photography has taken my ability to play with flowers to another
level. It has given rise to an intimacy of complexity. The complexity
of trying to capture the life within the flower. Finding the
contours and shapes that give rise to figurative forms or sometimes
just unbelievable beauty. I will spend endless hours making
the slightest adjustments in lighting until the flower seems
to come alive. I do this because I want each photograph I take
to be a definitive act. |
